I quit my dream job to pursue my dreams!! Some may think I am crazy for leaving it all behind. The amazing travel, the fun, all the perks, and the guaranteed income, all of that is gone. Crazy right? I resigned from my dream job and I am proud of myself!
My Previous Career Experience
I’ve always had a job. I’ve always been seen in my family as the career girl who had it all “together” (not really lol). I thought I wanted to be a healthcare administrator of a huge hospital. That was my dream at one point in my life. I went to college and got my Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, and landed my first real career as a front desk associate. I then went on to obtain my Master’s degree in Health Administration. It was when I was going through my Master’s program I asked myself, Michelle is this career really for you? I didn’t listen to myself then as I was eager to climb the corporate ladder and land a management role. Well, guess what I never did. I then moved on to work in Education as a compliance coordinator for a nursing school, still in the healthcare field. That didn’t work out either, go figure. So I then landed a job with another major hospital this time in administration. I was an office manager for the compliance department of a hospital. I thought this was truly THE JOB! Sike, it was the worst job I’ve ever had. My manager belittled me daily and I was super stressed. NO GOOD! But I was removed from that situation! After I left there I freelanced for a few months and then was offered my dream job! To work in social media marketing for a major beauty brand! I was so happy to land this job it was so perfect for me in every way!
But, on August 1, 2019. I resigned. What Michelle you resigned? I thought it was your dream job? It was, It really was but something was missing.
My life changed, my priorities changed, I changed. I left my career to focus on me. I’ve always been a freelance writer, blogger, entrepreneur, and so much more and it was time to take it to a new level. I now can literally work anywhere in the world! Now don’t get it twisted, still, I spend my days hustling for work, self-learning (because if you are not learning you are not growing), and making connections I never dreamed I could make. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been beyond exciting. I know it’s only been a week, but GUYS so much has happened this week that I can’t even explain!
Are you asking, how did I even get to this point? I took a chance and bet on myself.
Before leaving my job, I was running my blog and business on the side, my side hustle, being a mom, wife, and marketing professional. Talk about burnout, it was too real but I maintained and got the work done but I won’t lie it was exhausting. I knew I had to make a change. I talked with my husband on our options and we both decided that resigning from my job would be the best choice for our family.
I used to think that job security, money, is what I needed to be happy. Recently in my life, things have changed and I have changed. Money and job security don’t guarantee fulfillment, happiness, NONE OF THAT and that I am the only one responsible for making the most out of my own life!
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
It wasn’t that my job or my life was horrible, it was that it wasn’t good enough for me anymore. I’ve always been “different”. I’ve always wanted more. I am a very self-driven person and I learned that when I started running out of self-drive, I knew it was time that I made a drastic change!
I decided to take a chance on myself and follow my dreams. I am excited to take you all along on this journey with me. Thank you all for your kind words and support! I’m ready for this new chapter in my life! Full of abundance! I’m so grateful for all of you! Thank you for continuing to support me!
It’s time for me to take a chance on me and my dreams!

August 12, 2019 at 8:59 amI am so excited for you Michelle! I have seen you grow in so many ways over the years I have known you. You have what it takes and I know you are going to soar so high. Our generations just do it differently and the older generations just don’t understand how you do it without a steady job and paycheck. But the last decades have shown us that online businesses, social media and brand work have made a lot of people successful and fulfilled that they can work from anywhere. You are such an inspiration to us all and a lot of us are working on getting on your level. So keep sharing with us all the great news and projects. I love your honesty, perspective and when you share your sweet family with us. Can’t wait to see what your secret project is because I know it must be amazing. Many blessings to you and the family…. @applemacg
