Are you a serial procrastinator? I’ve been there, procrastination is so real, and I have been experiencing it rather often. Sometimes it’s so hard for me to concentrate and I get so distracted and end up wasting too much time. Sometimes I can have two deadlines that I need to meet the next day, but I end up scrolling through Instagram or Facebook, instead of finishing up the task at hand. In 2017, I promise myself that I have to do better, so I am writing it down to remember what I need to do to get back on track. Here are a few tips to help you stop procrastinating and get to work!
Stop thinking and start DOING!
Stop thinking too hard and long about the task at hand an just do it! Get it done and you won’t have to worry about it later. Plan ahead if you need to see a visual timeline. Just get to work, everything will fall into place.
Stop waiting for everything to be “perfect.”
If I would have waited until I had the best camera, lights, props and all that jazz to start my blog, I would still be waiting. We tell ourselves that we need the right amount of time, physical space, equipment, or whatever and then wait for the magic to happen. The truth is, everything will never be “perfect,” you just have to go for it!
Make a To-Do List
I am a very visual person, so writing things down helps me. Make a to-do list by only including the tasks that you’re avoiding. Then set deadlines for yourself, so you make sure that you get them done.
Eliminate Distractions
I know this one is hard, especially for me. My phone is always in my hand, but I have to take a break and focus on my work. Turn off your phone or get an app like Forest that helps you stay focused and be present. This app is designed to help you stay away from your smartphone and stay focused on your work.
Ask For Help
Don’t try to be superwoman, if you need help ask for it. You can get burned out quick if you take on too much. So ask for help if needed.
I hope these tips help you to stop procrastinating and get stuff done! I am taking my advice and getting stuff done this week!
