I am home from Blogalicious and I am reflecting on the amazing time that I had. I am feeling amazing and I am truly blessed to have gotten the chance to experience Blogalicious 8! I absolutely love Dove’s message the entire weekend surrounding women empowerment. Dove believes in making beauty a source of confidence, not anxiety through their messages of positivity, empowerment and wide range of beauty product essentials.
While preparing for the conference I made sure to bring along some Dove goodies for my beauty routine. Dove was also kind enough to gift us some beauty goodies to our rooms at Blogalicious as well. Just because I am away from home doesn’t mean the beauty preparation stops. I knew that I would be networking and moving around a lot so I made sure that I used my Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant. I am usually not confident at all because I sweat a lot and it can be embarrassing. I am happy to say that I felt very confident using Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant because it kept me dry all day! It goes on instantly dry and delivers 48 hours of odor and wetness protection!!
I also wanted to make sure my skin was moisturized. My skin gets dry very easily so I used the Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash and the Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar for my shower. My skin felt amazing after using these products. The Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash features a unique formula with a blend of Moroccan Argan Oil beads to replenish 12x more skin natural nutrients than competitors! The Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar features ¼ moisturizing cream and Moroccan Argan Oil to gently cleanse skin. I say they get an A +. My skin was moisturized all day!
Also being a natural hair girl we have to have options in case we have a hair emergency. I was grateful that I brought my Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crème Serum with me. My hair needed a little pick me up and I added some to my hair for a little extra shine. It was just what my hair needed! Its an ‘on-the-go’ leave in treatment for curls and is fast absorbing. It is a very lightweight serum that utilizes a creamy formula to nourish your hair for the ultimate shine and manageability. In other words my hair was fleeky! I also received the Dove Coconut & Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner in my room and I am super excited to test them out! They help nourish and protect your hair from dryness, and leaves your hair clean and revitalized all day!
The Dove #SpeakBeautiful Panel was led by award-winning author and writer Luvvie Ajayi. She is the author of I’m Judging You- The Do Better Manual which is a New York Times Best seller! The panelist included Marie Denee from The Curvy Fashionista, Makeup Artist Dre Brown, and Claudia Krusch of TrendyLatina.com
82 percent of women feel the beauty standards set by social media are unrealistic. In communities of color and in the African American community not only do these unrealistic beauty ideals come from social media, but they also come from mainstream society. The breakfast keynote and panel discussion centered on creating messages of confidence and messages of positivity and empowerment to inspire the next generation of girls.
The #SpeakBeautiful conversation was just amazing. I had chills as the panelist spoke about their own personal experiences with bullying and self esteem. Dove created the #SpeakBeautiful campaign to encourage women and young girls online to turn ugly tweets into positive ones. I was bullied in high school and it wasn’t fun. I didn’t have to deal with social media bullying but I know that many young girls deal with not so nice messages on social media every day. As an influencer I will continue to use my platform to help encourage and spread messages for change. I started this blog to encourage women and girls to be confident, courageous, and unique so Dove’s message means a lot to me. It warms my heart when I receive messages that a beauty or hair tip that I shared really helped someone.
I was inspired to continue to share the message that we are all beautiful and not to let social media define who we are, because social media can really distort reality. A powerful message that resonated with me during the panel was “YOU ARE ENOUGH!” That was chilling because sometimes I don’t feel confident about certain things, but hearing that really hit home. I left this panel with so much confidence.
When the panel concluded, I headed to the Dove suite which was amazing. They pampered us so much that I didn’t want to leave! The weekend ended with a day party hosted by Dove. Celebrity stylist Ursula Stephen was there providing complimentary braid styles for attendees, and it was a great time!
I want to thank Dove and Blogalicious for such an amazing weekend! Make sure you keep up with the conversation and follow Dove on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
xoxo 🙂
