The temps are literally below zero in Chicago these days. My skin is not feeling so great during the cold temperatures but I have to keep up with my skin care routine. I have changed up my skin regimen and started my winter regimen. I can tell that my skin is drying out and becoming itchy due to the cold temperatures. If you suffer from dry skin in the winter, here are some tips to keep your skin looking good and feeling great even in sub below temperatures.
- The Most Important Step: Moisturize Your Skin!
This may seem like a no-brainer but you need to moisturize your skin often. Our skin starts to feel the effects of cold weather when temperatures drop below 53.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Wow, this week in Chicago, it was 8 degrees Fahrenheit. You may want to opt for thick creams to make sure your skin is properly moisturized, but did you know that thicker creams don’t automatically deliver better moisturization for your skin? I’m super excited about using Olay Whip this winter. Olay recently released Olay Whip with powerful results but feels light as air.
With Olay Whip, you no longer have to choose between a product that provides powerful results, but feels sticky and tacky, or one that feels truly lightweight, but doesn’t offer much beyond basic hydration. It’s a huge misconception that heavy creams provide more moisture. I love that Olay Whip is formulated differently, and feels different from other moisturizers. Olay Whip features Active Rush Technology. It holds and quickly releases 1000x its weight in hydration and active ingredients.
Olay Whip also provides instant absorption, which is amazing. So all the moisture and nutrients your skin needs during the winter months instantly absorbs into your skin instead of creating a greasy film and sitting on top of your skin like some heavy moisturizers do.
I’m super excited that Olay Whips is now available at your local Walgreens. The collection includes three different lines. I’m super excited about the Olay Regenerist Whip. It provides powerful wrinkle results without heaviness! It also diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles, actively hydrates to improve elasticity and firm skin for a lifted look, and is formulated with advanced Amino-Peptide Complex II.
- Exfoliate
I try to exfoliate my skin weekly. It’s really important in the winter. Make sure to use a less abrasive exfoliant on your skin since it may be dry and fragile due to the cold weather. I love using my spinning brush to get a good exfoliating session. I love creating homemade scrubs for my body and face. If you search Pinterest, you will find so many options!
- Drink More Water
This is a 2018 goal of mine but drinking more water is essential for your skin. I love coffee and also my guilty pleasure is a can of Coke, but you need to moisturize from the inside out. It’s important to stay hydrated in all seasons, but winter is when your skin is the most dry. I try to drink the suggested 8 glasses of water a day, I know it’s hard but it’s important for your health and your skin.
What are some of your Winter beauty tips?

January 24, 2018 at 1:40 pmDrink more water, that I should really be doing. I have such a hard time doing that. I remember my Mom using Olay products when I younger. It is crazy now that I am getting older and need to invest in it myself. These bags under my eyes aren’t going anywhere lol

January 24, 2018 at 2:04 pmI love Olay products. Over the summer I started adding essential oils to my lotion when I put it on and my body loves it! It even helped to clear up a patch of skin affected by my eczema. I totally agree that water is key too.

January 24, 2018 at 3:16 pmI feel you on these Chicago temps. It’s my first winter back in a few years and it’s killing me! Great tips. Of the 3, the only one I need to work on is exfoliating. I have been neglecting that part of skincare.

January 25, 2018 at 12:09 amThese tips are great. Even though I live in the desert so I don’t have to deal with harsh temps currently, I’m seeing that moisturizing is key and for sure try to up my intake of water during the winter months.

January 28, 2018 at 10:31 pmI’m horrible about drinking water. I make our son do it all the time, but I rarely drink a full glass of water each day myself. Thanks for the reminder.
